University of Notre Dame, Charles W. “Lefty” Smith Jr. Rink

WHAT WE DID

Erecting eight 156-foot, 42-ton trusses.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The University of Notre Dame constructed a new 208,000-square-foot, 5,000-seat ice arena designed to meet the needs of both the nationally ranked Irish hockey team and the local community. Degenkolb assisted Cadillac Iron with the roof erection procedure, which involved eight 156-foot trusses, weighing up to 42 tons each. The arena was completed in time to be open for the 2011-2012 NCAA season.
