Degenkolb is currently working on prime consulting contracts with multiple UC campuses statewide to deliver thousands of seismic engineering evaluations in accordance with the UC Seismic Safety Policy. Our multi-year contracts include interacting with the campus Seismic Review Committee (SRC) to present findings and collaboratively map next steps and has resulted in a keen understanding of the groups’ priorities.
The UC Seismic Policy Evaluations take place across the UC system and include seismic evaluations and rating buildings using FEMA P-154, ASCE-41-13 Tier-1, per the UCOP seismic screening procedures. Subsequent phases include advanced analysis of priority buildings.
As part of our work within the UC system, Degenkolb routinely performs advanced, performance-based seismic analyses of existing buildings. Non-linear analysis provides more detail, which is necessary to estimate strengthening costs compared to replacement options under the UC Seismic Policy Criteria.
