UPS 747 Hangar

WHAT WE DID

Engineering an 850-ton lift for the country's largest sorting and logistics facility.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Expanding production at a new $220 million airport hangar at Louisville International Airport accommodates UPS’ growing fleet of 747 aircraft. The 2-bay hangar is 275,000 square feet and includes seven ramp parking positions for its planes.

For our client Midwest Steel, Degenkolb provided erection engineering services including one of our firm’s largest lifts – a 380-foot long box truss – with the use of hydraulic strand jacks. In addition to erection engineering services, Team Degenkolb also designed the necessary supporting and lifting members which included shoring head arrangements, strand jack lifting beams, and the strand jack support frames.
