St Louis City Major League Soccer Stadium

WHAT WE DID

Providing a variety of engineering services to support construction of this new professional soccer venue.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The new St. Louis City MLS Stadium is a 22,500-seat open-air, two-tiered facility that includes a grass field 40 feet below street level. A clear awning keeps inclement weather out while its design prevents shadows on the pitch during matches.

For our client Alberici, part of the Mortenson/Alberici/L. Keeley joint venture construction team, Degenkolb provided erection engineering services to facilitate construction of the state-of-the-art stadium. A staged erection analysis based upon the project’s steel and precast stadia sequencing schedule was performed to assess the stability of the structure and its ability to resist lateral loads as construction progressed. The Degenkolb team also provided lift planning and engineering services for a 100-foot steel transfer truss and 120-foot canopy girders supporting the awning roof, as well as various other structural steel and precast concrete elements. The Degenkolb team also assisted with crane logistics and bearing pressure analysis for the multiple lattice boom cranes concurrently operating on site.
