ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The project consisted of a buildout of the existing building to accommodate multiple kitchen user groups and totaled approximately 140,000 square feet. The existing building is a one-story precast concrete tilt-up spanning 832 feet by 280 feet with a steel and wood framed roof. The project scope included a new Central Utility Plant, two new roof top equipment platforms, new building openings, a new interior second-level platform covering up to approximately 40% of the floor area, which was used to support air handlers, exhaust fans and electrical gear located above, and food service area Ansul Hoods and grease vent systems below, new MEP and kitchen equipment, and new architectural partitions and walls and strengthened as needed. The entire building structural system was analyzed to integrate the new second level mezzanine into the existing building. Integrating the interior mezzanine level into the existing building structure allowed for a simpler design of the MEP systems due the elimination of seismic joints.
