Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois added 24 floors on top of its existing 31-story headquarters building in Chicago. Working with Walsh Construction, Degenkolb designed support steel on the roof of the existing building for a 17-ton capacity derrick crane, two 35-ton derrick cranes and two 300-foot tall tower cranes using a combination of existing and new building steel to form a temporary truss system.
