The $1 billion Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital is the tallest children’s hospital in the world. Degenkolb provided erection procedure expertise to Chicago Steel Construction, addressing challenges created by the 10th floor transfer trusses and a 12-story cantilever starting at the 11th floor. Degenkolb designed a temporary multi-cable system to provide the needed support until the permanent vertical trusses, located from the 16th to 22nd floor, were installed.
