Degenkolb contributed to the enhancement of Van Buren Charter Township’s community center by designing a new 20,000-square-foot building addition. The addition includes a new group and open fitness areas with a new gymnasium with a second-floor running track, a Mechanical/Electrical Room, a Storage Room, and a back of stage room for the new theater. Degenkolb’s scope involved designing CMU load-bearing and shear walls, concrete wall foundations, and a standard concrete slab-on-grade. Roof trusses were engineered to support the roof and hangers for the second-floor track loads. The building design included interior revisions to the existing building, as well as a new vestibule and a new entrance canopy.
