Expanding production at a new $220 million airport hangar at Louisville International Airport accommodates UPS’ growing fleet of 747 aircraft. The two-bay hangar is 275,000 sf and includes seven ramp parking positions for its planes. For Midwest Steel, our firm provided erection engineering services including one of the firm’s largest lifts—a 380-foot-long box truss weighing 850 tons—with the use of hydraulic strand jacks. In addition to erection engineering services, we also designed the necessary supporting and lifting members, which included shoring head arrangements, strand jack lifting beams, and strand jack support frames.
