Ultium 3 Battery Cell Manufacturing Facility

WHAT WE DID

Building on the success of the Ultium 2 Cells Battery Plant facility.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The 3rd of the U.S.-based Ultium Cells Battery Plants, this new 2.8 million square foot facility will provide electric vehicle batteries to the General Motors Lake Orion, Michigan plant and other nearby GM facilities. Ultium Cells, LLC is a joint venture between GM and LG Energy Solutions. Ultium’s other two U.S. facilities are in Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Lordstown, Ohio.

Team Ruby provided design and detail for all structural steel and slab on metal deck, including conveyor bridges, outbuildings, and trestles. This included approximately 21,000 tons of steel for the main building and 3,000 tons for the conveyor bridges, outbuildings, and trestles. Ruby’s team provided a Level of Design 400 model for coordination with the building trades, clean room and dry room team, and process group.
