One Campus Martius Infill Addition

WHAT WE DID

Analyzing the roof truss and construction loads for a massive infill in Detroit's urban core.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Largely occupied by Quicken Loans, this 1 million square foot office and retail building in the heart of Detroit was originally built in 2003 to anticipate future expansion.  The W-shaped building received its infill addition in 2019, with 310,000 square feet of space, filling in floors 4-15.

Degenkolb was commissioned by Midwest Steel to assist in providing roof truss analysis in order to pick and set the truss, brace for the set condition and release.  Degenkolb also provided construction load analysis for the project.  In the end, the crew topped out the placement of 2,000 tons of structural steel, carefully crafting it into the original building’s existing geometry adjacent to Campus Martius, a heavily populated and busy downtown intersection and park.
