Indiana Convention Center Expansion, Indianapolis, IN

WHAT WE DID

Coordinating multi-piece truss lifts on shoring towers to support Indy’s expanding convention space.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The recent expansion of the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis features the largest ballroom in the state and is connected via skybridge to the upcoming Signia by Hilton hotel, opening in summer 2026. The project is a major addition to Indianapolis’s downtown event and hospitality scene.

Our team provided erection engineering services to Ben Hur Construction. Our engineers supported the installation of 182-foot multi-piece ballroom roof trusses, picked in thirds with a maximum piece weight of approximately 24,000 lbs., on shoring towers approximately 29 feet tall (two towers per truss) and reviewed construction loading to ensure safe support throughout the process. The trusses were supported on a 10-inch slab and concrete beams below, with a maximum load of 45,000 lbs.
