Exceed expectations to drive client success
Engineering a better future for our clients, communities, and employees.
We seek out institutions with which to partner in promoting STEM education and career choices in engineering among children and college-bound students, particularly among sectors underrepresented in the profession. We do this in a variety of ways, which include participating in instructional events, volunteering our time in educational settings, and pledging funds in support of engineering mentoring programs working with historically excluded and underrepresented communities.
Supporting programs throughout our communities that give youth opportunities in STEM and STEM education goes beyond dollars. Our engineers volunteer is programs throughout our communities.
Some of our ongoing volunteer projects to support youth in STEM include
“Much of a structural engineer’s work goes unseen most of the time. My father had a stroke in November 2017. I saw firsthand how the doctors and nurses struggled to care for him in an overcrowded, aging facility. I didn’t see how the structure was put together, or what was keeping the mechanical systems running. At the time, Degenkolb was in the middle of construction administration for Sutter Health’s CPMC Mission Bernal campus, which has a special team dedicated to geriatric in-patient care. The comparison reminded me why we design the types of structures we do, and how so much of our work impacts us and our loved ones daily lives.” – Laurie Lumish, Principal
Degenkolb works in communities where we live, work, and play. We design and construct hospitals, schools, workplaces, houses of worship, performance centers, and any manner of building that forms the fabric of community life. Our engineers are passionate about supporting our hometowns with world-class, resilient engineering.
