Degenkolb Engineers welcomes Walterio A. López to the firm as a Principal in our Oakland office. Walterio joins the firm with 31 years of experience as a structural engineer and is a recognized leader within the Northern California AEC community.
Walterio’s career has been marked by his deep commitment to bringing meaningful value to the communities he serves. He has actively participated in SEAOC, AISC, and other professional organizations, advocating for the advancement of the profession and the importance of resilient design. Over the course of his career, he has developed lasting relationships across the industry and has contributed to a wide range of impactful projects.
His portfolio includes work across the Science & Technology, Healthcare, Education, Civic, and Federal sectors. Notable projects include the Stanford Central Energy Facility, the EmeryStation Research campus, MBARI Building G, and multiple Judicial Council of California facilities. In addition, Walterio brings deep experience in infrastructure projects and is currently active in supporting decarbonization efforts in engineer-prime projects.
