At Degenkolb Engineers, we believe that education is the foundation of climate action—especially when it comes to reducing embodied carbon in the built environment. We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts with the “Best in Education” award from the inaugural SE 2050 Recognition Program, presented at the Towards Zero Carbon 2025: Summit & Symposium, hosted by the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) and the University of Colorado Boulder.

Leading by Example in Embodied Carbon Education

This award acknowledges our firm’s commitment to educating both our internal teams and our clients on embodied carbon—focusing on practical, actionable strategies for reducing environmental impact in structural design.

Representing Degenkolb at the summit were Corey Beck, Ray Pugliesi, and Jennifer Terada, who formally accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

As part of the summit programming, Corey Beck also shared our firmwide approach to sustainable design education, illustrating how we’re equipping our engineers with the tools and knowledge needed to take meaningful climate action.

Shaping the Future of Structural Engineering

We’re proud to be part of a community that is redefining the role of structural engineers in building a more sustainable future. The SE 2050 program is helping lead our profession in a critical direction, and we’re excited to continue supporting that movement—through both education and implementation.
