Promotes mental and physical wellness through initiatives and events. This includes providing healthy snacks in the office, organizing an annual pedometer competition, offering access to a meditation app, and supplying employees with wellness tips and resources. The Committee defines wellness as the lifelong practice of making the best choices for a person’s optimal health and well-being.

Establish and maintain Degenkolb as an innovative structural engineering firm with respect to sustainable design. The Committee achieves this by disseminating information from internal research and external committees to Degenkolb employees, the design professional community, and clients/owners. The Committee takes an active role in developing company-wide expertise and project standards related to sustainable design, in assisting in the delivery of projects, and in tracking and reducing environmental impacts of projects. The Committee manages Degenkolb’s involvement in the SE 2050 Commitment.

Seeking to increase and ensure inclusiveness in the Degenkolb hiring process: We do this by evaluating existing hiring practices, revising our career fair materials and job postings with DEI initiatives in mind, and working with engineering managers across offices to ensure inclusive interviews.

Seeking to ensure inclusiveness in project and promotion opportunities throughout the company: We do this by evaluating existing systems, gathering input from all staff across offices and demographics, and proposing process improvements.
