In 8th grade, we were given an assignment to interview an adult about their occupation. My friend and I procrastinated until the last day and said “you interview my parents and I’ll interview yours”. His dad happened to be a structural engineer. I had thought about architecture prior to that time, but the structural engineering route sounded fascinating. The rest is history!
