I chose construction engineering as my college major, with the intention of becoming a construction manager. My first job out of college was for a steel fabricator/erector that required a two-year PM training program, over half of which was spent doing structural analysis and design. I decided I liked engineering better than project management, so focused my career on the engineering side of construction. Turned out I got to enjoy the best of both worlds!
