As a kid, I was always fascinated by construction sites. I would stop and watch as the crews went about their work and the projects came to life. When the workers went home, my friend and I would wander around the project taking a closer look at the day’s work. My dad is a retired chemical engineer, so as a high schooler I kind of knew about the various types of engineering. Being good at math and science decided, I would apply to civil engineering and study construction management. Once at Berkeley while taking lower division civil engineering classes, I decided I was actually more interested in how buildings were designed and how they were put together. It was at this point that I changed my focus to structural engineering.
