I have a pet red-eared slider turtle with 3 1/2 legs. He used to have 4…but that’s a long story of the animal kingdom, timing and luck.

Why did you go into AEC industry?
I find that most people I talk to who do marketing in the AEC industry say they fell into the job, and I am no exception. Majoring in Design there was a wide range of fields I could go into. Initially I wanted to do work in the entertainment industry, specifically animation or theater tech. However, upon doing an internship at the engineering firm my dad works for I felt the AEC industry was the place for me.
Little Known Fact
I have dual citizenship for the United States and Canada. I was not born in Canada, but my mom was and is still a citizen, which allowed me to get citizenship for both countries.
Question of the Day
What hobby would you go into if time and money weren’t an issue?
One of my dreams is to swim with sharks, manatees, and narwhals, so I would probably take up scuba diving. I would travel the world and see all the beautiful reefs and creatures the ocean holds.

Why did you go into the AEC industry?
It just happened that I was looking for a full-time position while attending university classes at night. I was referred to the firm and began my introduction into the AEC industry. Since then, I have enjoyed learning about the fascinating world of structural engineering.

What were you going to be when you grew up?
A veterinarian. I was never allowed to have a pet, so my dream in life was to work with animals when I grew up (except for reptiles and amphibians).

Why did you go into the AEC Industry?
I met someone at a party, who knew someone, who needed someone…. That was nearly two decades ago. Degenkolb challenges me.

There isn’t much left with which to surprise people. I have a metal plate in my left ankle and a tattoo on the right ankle.

A dentist. I was definitely influenced by “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Why did you go into AEC industry?
I didn’t aim to go into the AEC industry. It just happened that way. I had worked with Degenkolb’s then-CFO elsewhere and part of my work involved reviewing contracts. When he joined Degenkolb, he saw a need for contract review and reached out to me. He described the impressive individuals who worked at Degenkolb and I was hooked.

I once took 12 items through the 10-items-or-less grocery store lane. True story.

Why did you go into the AEC industry?
I met someone who worked in commissioning and after asking a lot of questions they advised that I join the industry. I followed that advice and joined an MEP firm and then, when I moved to San Diego in 2022, I joined Degenkolb.

I moved to San Diego to help my sister out while her husband was deployed with the Navy and then decided to never leave.
What hobby would you go into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Golf. Truth be told I already golf, but I would spend more time and money doing it, if available.
