Designed the reconstruction and seismic strengthening of the historic library core after the demolition of the central stack area. The historic library is a steel load-bearing frame with concrete infill building designed in the early 1900s by John Galen Howard. Also designed the seismic strengthening of the historic North Reading Room. As a historic structure, the structural retrofit was designed within the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The immediate building areas were closed for construction; however, the remainder of the library was open throughout construction.
