Favorite Project Story
With less than a year of experience, I was given the opportunity to provide on-site construction management of a small seismic retrofit project, where we were the prime consultant. It was critical the construction be completed in 28 days, so I was on site 6 days a week and immediately available to investigate/respond to all issues that arose with as-built conditions and observe completed strengthening before it was immediately covered up. I was even granted authority to provide special inspections for everything except the welding. I was nervous before construction started; but as soon as we found a rhythm, I knew I’d be an engineer for the rest of my life.
