Loring Wyllie receives the SEAONC H.J. Brunnier Award for Lifetime Achievement.

In June, Degenkolb Senior Principal, Loring Wyllie accepted the SEAONC H.J. Brunnier Award for Lifetime Achievement.  The award recognizes a significant body of work and contribution to the field of structural engineering. 

After graduating from the University of California Berkeley, Loring went into the army.  When he returned to civilian life, he joined H.J. Degenkolb & Associates in 1964.  Since then, he has been a fixture at the firm, known for significant work in historic seismic strengthening and construction support.

His contributions to the profession have been recognized by numerous other organizations over the years including his election to the National Academy of Engineering in 1990. He is a Past President of SEAONC and SEAOC an Honorary member of SEAONC and a SEAOC fellow. In 2007, he was honored with the prestigious Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Lifetime Achievement Award for design by ASCE. In recognition of his expertise in concrete design and performance, the American Concrete Institute named him an Honorary Member in 2000, and he continues to serve on ACI 318 to this day, over 40 years since first joining the committee.
