Life & Culture at Degenkolb

How would you describe the culture at Degenkolb?

Degenkolb’s culture is very employee centered. As a small firm, we are able to support and listen to our people on a personal level. The people I work alongside everyday are the same ones driving the company forward. I’m excited to grow with Degenkolb.

Why did you choose Degenkolb?

I chose Degenkolb because I think it is the absolute best place for me to start my career. The opportunities for growth and development that the company offers are unmatched. Also, our focus on seismic engineering is very interesting and important to me, especially here in California! I feel great knowing that the work we do makes people and communities safer. It’s easy to see the ways in which Degenkolb invests in its engineers. From the toughest hiring interview I’ve ever been through to sponsoring a trip to investigate damage from the recent Napa earthquake, I’m constantly impressed with how Degenkolb supports its employees.

Your Career

Why have you stayed at Degenkolb?

I love the people and projects I get to work with. My coworkers are some of the most talented and experienced in the industry. We have experts on so many different structural engineering topics, there’s always someone who can answer my toughest questions. I’ve already been able to work on an office building retrofit and new design of a $1 billion hospital. The diverse and challenging projects make it fun to go to work every day.

On the Job

What are you like on the job?

On the job, I’m trying to learn as much as I can. I’m lucky to get to work alongside so many talented engineers. There’s always someone to ask when I have a question, and I definitely have a lot of them! I’m constantly trying to think of ways to make our design better, stronger, more efficient.
