a city with tall buildings

California Pacific Medical Center, Van Ness and Geary Medical Center

As a core member of the IPD team, Degenkolb designed the structural system for a new 730,000 square foot, 12-story, acute care facility. This is the first application of wall dampers in the U.S.  The team scheduled, quantified, analyzed, and documented the design in real time, reducing waste in the design and construction of Sutter’s largest hospital replacement project.

Features:

  • 274 new beds
  • Diagnostic and treatment centers
  • 1200 space subterranean parking
  • Living roofs (or “green roofs”)
  • Viscous Wall Dampers, 1st in the U.S.
  • 12-story acute care facility
  • Structural System: Steel Moment frame with viscous dampers
  • Service: New Design

Benefits:

  • Reduced steel frame weight
  • Enhanced seismic performance
