Degenkolb is sending its summer interns back to school this month along with hundreds of thousands of students at the campuses where Degenkolb provides services. Every year Degenkolb hosts a handful of interns from colleges and universities throughout the Western US. It is part of our culture of learning that these individuals are afforded the opportunity to participate in industry seminars, senior level technical presentations, and hands on-engineering work.
Hearing from the best
Most of our interns started the summer by joining the entire technical staff at the annual Degenkolb Technical Conference. This year’s conference provided nearly 30 presentations on topics from new code development, equipment seismic isolation, vibration analysis, and city seismic programs. Further learning opportunities throughout the summer included site visits to the IPD CPMC Van Ness and Geary campus as well as Stanford University Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Hoover Institute Conference Center.
Learning by doing
Interns in San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, and Los Angeles worked more than 1500 hours on a range of projects in all of Degenkolb’s vertical markets such as the design-build competition for a new university laboratory and clinic and analysis work for a new steel hospital tower.
We wish our interns a great year back at school and look forward to welcoming several of them back in the years to come. Know a great engineering student interested in working at an award winning firm? Check out our job opportunities page.
